The NEWSTART Program
Specializing in Nutritional and Lifestyle Medicine

What is NEWSTART?

NEWSTART uses natural approaches to improve health and decrease the need for medications or surgery.

The NEWSTART program is designed for the people who desire to control and reverse their diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis and other chronic health problems.

Those with cardiovascular disease who have had a heart attack or stroke can benefit greatly from the comprehensive care provided by the NEWSTART team of physicians, preventionists, nutritionists, exercise specialists and health educators.

How Does It Work?

Participants will experience the program in four phases:

Phase I: Intensive two-week long program. Group meets Sunday – Thursday 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. During this phase you will meet with your group at the Wellness Center and participate in health screenings, exercise sessions, buffet dinners, cooking demonstrations, group discussions and medical lectures.

Phase II: Participants will meet twice a week for 1 month from 6 – 8 p.m. Your education and experience in developing a healthy lifestyle continues.

Phase III: Participants will meet once a week for 2 months. Each person also receives individualized care from the NEWSTART Doctors.

Phase IV: Participants will meet twice a month for 3 months. Emphasis is placed on maintaining the health benefits experienced during phase I – III.

How Much Does The Program Cost?

Your cost will depend on the health insurance you subscribe to. During the 4 phases of the program, insurance co-payments will be collected for each visit. In addition, the intensive 2 weeks of phase one has a program fee of $895.00. This covers meals, materials, supervised exercise sessions and cooking demonstration sessions. Normal co-payments also apply to lab tests and office visits.

The program fee may be paid with installments. We do request that an initial deposit to be made to reserve your place in the program. Each NEWSTART group is limited to 20 individuals so please make your reservations promptly.

If you have any questions, please call Rose Benevente or any of our NEWSTART staff to assist your current future enrollment into the program.

Why will NEWSTART Be good for me?

Cooking demonstrations provide "hands-on" experience to help you learn how to prepare appealing and delicious health enhancing dishes.

Group activities will make exercising more fun rather than a "burden".
